About

Kirk Bingenheimer is a Senior Lecturer in the Nieri Department of Construction and Real Estate Development at Clemson University, where he prepares future construction professionals through practical, experience-based learning and strong connections with the construction industry.


Before joining Clemson, Kirk spent more than 30 years in residential construction, with extensive experience in purchasing, estimating, preconstruction, product development, cost management, value engineering, and trade partner relationships. His career includes leadership roles with national and regional homebuilders throughout the Carolinas.


Today, Kirk combines his industry experience with construction education, consulting, and the practical application of artificial intelligence in construction. His teaching emphasizes real-world problem solving, project-based learning, affordable housing, and collaboration with industry professionals. He is particularly interested in how emerging technologies can improve estimating, preconstruction, decision-making, and construction education.


Kirk remains actively engaged with the homebuilding industry and is committed to strengthening the connection between industry and higher education while helping prepare the next generation of construction professionals.
